We Miss You Already!

We drove my dad and step-mom up to Canada on Saturday to catch their flight home. They were with us for fun-filled week. We had an evening at Jump Planet, we got to go to the movies, and I didn't have to worry about dinner all week - well actually for the last four weeks (our new baby gift from Dad and Ellen was a freezer and meals delivered from Schwan's).

Jason and I even went on a date on Friday night. While we were out, I commented to Jason how I don't think I left Joshua at all for the first six months, Jason thought it might have been longer than that!
Delia is more than attached to her Grandma Ellen. Every night when the grandparents would go to the hotel Delia would start crying, "I want my Grandma!" or "Grandma's going to be sad without me!"

I told my dad that I thought he got a year's worth of spoiling in this past week. We definitely felt well-loved and now we are trying to get back to reality - basic things like washing my own dishes - imagine that!

So glad that you have been taken care of a bit. I hope you have gotten some rest too, as well as enjoyed visiting with family. That's great you were able to go on a date. I really needed more time alone to myself & w/Andrew after 3 kids than I did after 1! Hope the transition back to solo cooking/cleaning goes smoothly. So cute how much kids love grandparents, huh?

So lucky to have such wonderful, helpful parents! You write about them beautifully, so I'll bet they appreciate you as much as you appreciate them.

Unfortunately, each time I had a baby, the visit from family was actively unhelpful in about every way you could think of--physically, emotionally, extra housework, feeding my daughter fast food, you name it. But I'm also not an easy person to get along with--you seem much nicer!

Every mother, especially a new mom, deserves some TLC and it sounds like Bill and Ellen definitely stepped up. My kids feel that way about my mom, who has been away since September and won't be home until the end of December. I know when she return, there will be no doubt about how they feel about her. Kudos to your parents!
