Delia's Style

Delia chooses her own clothes every day and she throws a good tantrum if I even suggest putting on pants. She definitely has her own style and I think it's pretty cute!

It would be nice if she would at least wear tights now that it's December. When I tell her she'll be cold - she starts yelling "I don't care!"

How do you feel about letting your kids dress themselves?

Um, are those the sparkly red Target shoes? Because Mary wears hers every single day. Unless she's in the mood for her tacky and unseasonable Dora sandles. I've given up on trying to dress her presentably, as she's dead set on what she thinks she should wear. Occasionally I can talk her into a matching outfit, if I really sell her on how "cute" and "fancy" it is. She also tries to tell ME what to wear most days. Aren't girls a hoot?

Oh that is too funny!!! Jessica likes it when I pick out her clothes but Sarah is a totally different one.....she has to wear a skirt all the time, and if she has gym she'll change out of the pants when she comes home for lunch. I am lucky though as she LOVES her tights, so much that she will try and wear them to bed. I've concluded it's not worth the battle to try and make them match somedays....most people can figure out that you didn't pick that out for them......Jake likes to match his colors....as in green shirt, green pants......drives me nuts!!! Hope she'll wear some tights for you soon, mind you you'll never catch me with anything on my legs:)Can you email me you mailing address????

I'm pretty sure people can tell that I let my kids dress themselves. I'm all for it. It's actually a good part of child development, letting them dress themselves. It lets them feel like they have control and can make their own decisions. There's more, but I'm NOT one of the psychologists in my fam!

Delia looks darling. I like her style too!

Can I make a request? I'd love to see pics of Eliza. I'm sure she's growing so quickly!

she is too cute! miles is the same way. he always tells me "only one shirt!" i'll just wear a jacket. and he changes his outfit at least 3 or 4 times a day. i wrote a post on it. he's a little high maintenance. (don't know where he gets it from.)

I think it's fine for kids to dress themselves... However, Levi would wear the same motorcycle shirt every day and I have to draw the line somewhere so I can wash it occasionally. I try to keep neutral pants and shirts that mix and match with every -but he is a boy, which might make this strategy easier. So whatever he chooses, goes!

We have similar conversations often:) Delia is so cute. I need to be a little more supportive of Isabel's choices I think...I struggle with no tights in winter.

When Alyssa was in that stage I just tried to make sure her favorite skirt made it to the laundry every now and then :). She's totally outgrown caring though and each day when I ask, "do you want to pick what you wear, or should I" she usually tells me too. I guess the novelty of freedom wore off! :)
