The River Cottage Family Cookbook

I haven't had much time to blog lately. I have still been baking bread, though, and when I get more time to sit at the computer to type out recipes I'll share them with you!

In the mean time, check your local library for The River Cottage Family Cookbook. The recipes look good, but I recommend it more for the ideas. Friday is our usual pizza night and after having read this cookbook, I decided to try pizza over a campfire at the beach. It was so good! (And while we were at the beach we saw a bald eagle dive into the ocean, grab a fish with its talons and fly almost directly over our heads - it was pretty much the coolest thing I have ever seen. Of course, I didn't bring my camera with us so there are no pictures.)

Also, while at the beach I collected salt water to make my own salt (an idea inspired by the cookbook and Michael Pollan). I don't know how clean the Puget Sound is, but I boiled it a good long time - it should be safe to eat, right?

Friday night is pizza night here too. Sometimes in the summer when it's really warm, we barbeque our pizza...so good!

"it was pretty much the coolest thing I have ever seen" reminded me of Napoleon Dynamite and made me laugh. :) Sounds like a great time at the beach.

Austin cooks pizza from scratch every Friday, but we've never had it over a campfire! I'll have to get this book so we can check out how to do it.

I'm excited to see the bread recipes you've been trying. I'm hoping you found some good ones.
