My First Ever 5k

I had this idea to run a 5k with all the Hunt Ladies while we were in Denver, I had never run more than a mile before I started training for this event - so it was a big deal for me! My brother-in-law Stu asked what my goal was for the event, I think he was looking for a time goal - but my only real goal this time was to run without stopping - which I did (slowly)!

Jason thinks my shorts are too short, but I think they might help me run faster (I need all the help I can get)! The event was The Lone Tree Firecracker 5k on the 4th of July. It was so much fun for the whole family - they had a fun run for the kids and lots of great sponsors and Jason ended up with a cool shirt (because it was way too big for me).
My mother-in-law totally rocked the race - she came in third in her age category. And my sister-in-law beat us all which I found impressive since her baby was only 3 months old! Thanks to my mother-in-law and my sisters-in-law for indulging my crazy idea - I thought it was so fun!
I took these pictures from my sister-in-law's blog, you can see more here if you're interested!

Congratulations! What an accomplishment. I read your sister-in-law's post about the race and I think we are made of the same stuff. :) Good for you!

I don't think your shorts are short enough! And why didn't you want to run a 5k with the Frank girls?

Way to go! You must have felt really great crossing the finish line. I did look at your SIL's blog and I absolutely love her write-up on running. It's exactly how I feel about it and yet I put myself through it every week.

Way to go!! That's awesome. I'm training for the Wasatch Back RAGNAR next June. Its 18 miles for my 3 legs, (lol that sounds funny if you don't know what I'm talking about) and I've never run a 5k. LOL...but working on it!

Sarah-

I actually looked for one - but there weren't any that overlapped with the reunion. Maybe next time! Honey wants to do a triathlon next year - feel free to join us!

Good for you! I've always wanted to do a 5K but haven't found the motivation quite yet.
