I fought Delia and Delia won

"But mom, I look so cute in my swimsuit. Don't you think?" I tried to discourage her, "It's not something I would choose to wear. It doesn't look comfortable to me." And finally I gave in (after some persistent screaming on her part). Who cares if she wears her swimsuit over her clothes? If she feels good about it I can let it go. Right?

It was easier on the second day. This time there was no battle.
And you know what? I do think she looks pretty cute!

Learning to Count

Joshua was helping Delia count the butterflies in her book.
He tends to play a little rougher than I would like with her - so I thought I would capture the sweet moment.

But as soon as I brought out the camera he took off!

Delia's 3!

Happy Birthday to Delia. I can't believe she's 3!
She's loved all the phone calls she's gotten so far!

And as soon as she saw her new dress-up from Grandma, she had to put it on.
She has been asking for a mermaid cake for at least the past six months. This is what I came up with - I was going for the modest mermaid look! It was pretty easy, since I did pretty much the exact same thing last year. You can find the frosting recipes here and some more hints here.

The chocolate frosting works really well for writing with, so I wrote the kids' names on the inside of their bowl - I thought it turned out cute. Jason wrote one for me ("Mom is the wonderfullest") and he was thrilled to pose for me, too!

Delia's Style

Delia chooses her own clothes every day and she throws a good tantrum if I even suggest putting on pants. She definitely has her own style and I think it's pretty cute!

It would be nice if she would at least wear tights now that it's December. When I tell her she'll be cold - she starts yelling "I don't care!"

How do you feel about letting your kids dress themselves?

Halloween Recap

Delia decided to be a Princess
Joshua wanted to be a Ninja Turtle, mainly because he was excited about the nunchuks (which his dad crafted out of toilet paper rolls), too bad they went missing between the church party last week and the trick-or-treating yesterday!

And we didn't dress up our baby, but here's a picture anyway!

Delia's Pink Toes

Jason's a little bit scared about how much Delia loves 'girly' things! Delia would much rather come shopping with Grandma and Mom, than to stay behind with Grandpa and Joshua. And Delia also insisted on getting her nails painted with Mom and Grandma yesterday!
Delia's pink toes trying on shoes at Ann Taylor!

Delia's also asking when she can start taking ballet - she's not even 3 yet!
